Ryan Spink is both an incredible martial artist, and an incredible self defense-instructor. Ryan and I train together at Commando Krav Maga instructors’ boot camps. Ryan stands out for his technical insight into the defenses, and in his ability to apply that knowledge. I aspire to move as smoothly and effectively as Ryan does.

At the most recent boot camp, I had a chance to see Ryan’s teaching skills in action. He explains moves succinctly, and when helping students offers encouragement along with his corrections. Bobby Malins from Ryan’s class in California attended the boot camp with us, working towards an instructor certification, and Ryan’s care for his students’ welfare was palpable.

Through it all Ryan maintains a (sometimes offbeat) sense of humor. As a teacher, and as a training partner, he is always fun to be around. Anyone would be lucky to train with him.

I have been training martial arts for 30 years and with some of the WORLDS BEST instructors from traditional to combatives styles and I am well known for it. However, during the CKM Level 2 Instructor course I met Ryan Spink. My time with Ryan was only 4 intense days at a level 2 Commando Krav Maga certification course, but during that time Ryan displayed fantastic instructional and technical skills in CKM.

He is well versed in martial arts and has dealt with REAL issues as a bouncer and that is what any student will need, someone who has been there. Whatever Ryan has done in his life in regards to Martial Arts and Self Defense, he has earned it and knows what the consequences would be if done incorrectly.Like I mentioned before, I have seen many instructors seminars in the past and hands down Ryan has the gift of teaching and there is a huge difference in just an understanding or executing the techniques correctly. Ryan has it all.

If I was in the area I would train with him regularly, for he processes humor, detailed instruction and the ability to walk the walk and he is a work horse when it comes to training. Commando Krav Maga and Reality Based Self Defense Systems are taking over in the MA community, you should be with a great teacher and Ryan is just that.
